The project was implemented with the financial support provided under the National Coalition “Life Without Violence” Grant Program. The initiative aimed to strengthen the institutional capacity of the Ophelia Women’s Resilience Center and prevent domestic violence at the community level, through interventions aimed at support, information and local involvement.
The project aimed to create a safe and supportive environment for women and children in Cahul district, by improving access to essential services and by promoting awareness of the rights of women and children. A special emphasis was placed on developing the organizational capacity of the Ophelia Center, in order to ensure quality services, compliant with standards and adapted to the real needs of the community.
Within the project, key documents for the functioning of the Center were developed, including internal regulations and confidentiality policy, contributing to increasing professionalism, transparency and safety of the services provided. At the same time, an information campaign was carried out to raise awareness of domestic violence and reduce the social stigma associated with this phenomenon.
A central element of the project was the organization and facilitation of support groups for women and girls in rural communities of Cahul district. These groups became safe spaces for dialogue, mutual support and solidarity, involving over 300 women and girls from rural and urban areas in activities that contributed to strengthening community cohesion and preventing violence.
Through this project, the Ophelia Women’s Resilience Center strengthened its role as a key actor in preventing domestic violence and supporting women and children in Cahul district, contributing to the development of safer, more informed and more supportive communities.
