Social Assistance Project: Community Engagement and Support

The project was implemented with the financial support of People in Need Moldova, within the initiative “Moldova ASSIST: Improving Access to Quality Public Services and Social Cohesion”, funded by the European Union. The project aimed to provide specialized support to victims of domestic violence, including those affected by gender-based violence, by strengthening the professional capacities of staff at the Territorial Social Assistance Agencies (ATAS) and offering direct assistance to women in rural communities at risk.

The project was carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Moldova, which facilitated the participation of social workers in the information and guidance sessions. In total, seven information sessions were held, attended by 186 social workers from across the country, enhancing their capacity to support victims of domestic and gender-based violence.

Additionally, 19 information and support sessions were organized in rural areas, reaching approximately 300 women in the southern region of the country. Participants received not only practical and accessible information about their rights, legal protection mechanisms, and safety planning, but also material support through the distribution of 300 vouchers for food and hygiene products.

Through these activities, the project contributed to strengthening the professionalism of social workers, enhancing community support for women affected by violence, and facilitating more equitable access to essential services, while promoting protection and safety within rural communities.
