School without Violence

Violence is one of the biggest threats children face, endangering their physical and mental health. According to UNICEF Moldova studies, approximately 75% of children in the Republic of Moldova were subjected to some form of physical and psychological violence. It is worrying that violence is also found in educational institutions, approximately 87% of students are affected by bullying, according to the national study „Bullying among adolescents in the Republic of Moldova”.

The project “School without Violence” aims to increase the capacities to prevent and combat the phenomenon of violence and gender-based violence for teachers and students from two educational institutions from Cahul district.

Between August 2023 and March 2024, the project aims to intervene in three fields of activity:

  • Measures to prevent violence and gender-based violence among students – by informing, engaging and educating young people (boys and girls) about taking a proactive role to reduce violence and stereotypes among them.
  • Capacity building – by providing knowledge, involving and developing the skills of teaching staff from the educational institutions involved in preventing and combating violence within the institution.
  • Internal policies – assisting in the development of internal policies for educational institutions involved in the field of preventing, managing and combating the phenomenon of violence within educational institutions.
